Can Smoothies Help Aid Weight Loss?
One of the most common New Year’s Resolutions is to lose weight. It can be a great goal! Over the years, I have found having a plan on how to lose weight can help make that goal a reality.
One way to aid weight loss is to get some more nutrient dense foods into your diet. Smoothies are super fast, tasty, and satisfying. They can contain up to 3 servings of fruits and veggies which are filling and full of fat fighting nutrients.
Make sure to fill up the smoothie so you aren’t hungry in an hour if you are having one as a meal. Use a good source of protein such Greek yogurt, cottage cheese or a protein powder. These will keep you satisfying and protein can help you build more muscle and increase metabolism.
Smoothies contain fiber from the added fruits or veggies which help your digestive system work well. Fiber fills you up and balances the transit time of food in your digestive track. Fiber is a friend of weight loss.
Adding a good fat source can also aid weight loss. Shocking, I know! Fat will keep you fuller for longer and also helps you absorb fat soluble vitamins such as vitamin A, D, E & K. These vitamins are crucial for good health and can help you feel your best.
Smoothies can help you balance blood sugar which is also crucial for weight loss. When blood sugar is having highs and lows, the body needs to make balancing it a priority. When it is rescuing blood sugar all day, there isn’t enough energy for burning fat or boosting immunity. Try having a smoothie between meals to keep blood sugar balanced.
