Benefits of Working with an NTP
Caring. Devoted. Listener. Healer. Educator.
I’m Erin Donley, Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. I love educating women on how to live a healthy and vibrant life. Through my many years of struggling with unbalanced hormones, cooking for my family with multiple nutrition needs, and dealing a lifetime of weight issues, I’ve accumulated tons of first hand knowledge that I love to pass along to my clients.
I studied at the Nutritional Therapy Association to receive my certificate in Nutritional Therapy. Nutritional Therapy Practitioners are professionals and specialists that help you reach your health goals through whole food, lifestyle changes, and sometimes whole food based supplements.
I have many tools to use to help you make some meaningful changes. A no judgement zone food journal, results from the Nutri-Q symptom based questionnaire, and background information from the Intake Form help us work as a team to create actionable steps towards your health goals. My clients love the support through messaging and the food journal in between appointments. The private, individual nutritional therapy sessions keep you accountable to your action steps towards your goals.
One of the cornerstones of nutritional therapy work is the food journal. This piece of information helps me see what foods you are eating, what you like, how often you eat, and how you feel when eating. The food we eat is important, but how we feel and think about what we eat are equally important. The food journal doesn’t need to be exact to be helpful, sometimes my clients just like to snap a picture of their plate and that works! Through the food journal, we can learn together what foods nourish you the most and give you the most energy. A powerful tool!
The Nutri-Q is an online questionnaire that I use to gauge progress. This questionnaire assesses all of your symptoms and pulls them together in body systems. This helps me teach you the relationship to how you feel to what you eat and other lifestyle factors such as stress management and sleep. This assessment shows you your progress through a graph. Most of my clients see a nice change for the better after 1 month in working with me.
The Intake Questionnaire is only completed once. I use Practice Better, an online portal and scheduling app to collect this questionnaire. This questionnaire helps me to see what other changes you have tried to make in the past, what is your family history, and what your goals are. I refer back to this piece of information throughout our time that we work together to make sure we are on track towards your goals.
During our private, in person (either online or at my office) Nutritional Therapy follow up sessions, we review your goals, Nutri-Q and food journal. During our first appointment, I take lots of time to listen and go over your Intake Questionnaire. These follow ups are strategy sessions to help you find the right combination of nutrition and lifestyle changes. We work together to come up with a very doable plan to help you reach your health goals. At the end of each session, we create a protocol that includes your nutrition goals and occasionally some whole food based supplements. I use supplements to supplement your diet. Clients tend to use them temporarily while getting the diet to include all the right nutrients.
While some clients aren’t ready to work individually, I do offer some other group based programs. RESTART is a whole food, sugar detox program where we meet once a week for 5 weeks in person while you work on making changes towards eating less processed food and sugar. The 28 Days to a Healthier Cycle is a one month program designed to help you better your nutrition to lessen PMS symptoms. Weekly modules are emailed to you that include a meal plan for your specific phase of your cycle, a short instructional video, and a 15 minute in person (online) coaching session. Lastly, once a year I run my Healthy YOU for the Holidays program which is a 6 week program to help you handle holiday stress, eat better, and get ready to reach those new year’s resolutions.
