What is a FertilityCare Practitioner?
A FertilityCare Practitioner (FCP) is an allied health professional that helps women/couples understand and appreciate their fertility so that you can use the Creighton Model FertilityCare System to either achieve or avoid pregnancy.
FCPs are professionals that have completed a 14 month long education program to teach fertility appreciation. There are FCPs all around the world, namely in North & South America, Europe and Africa. Check out the FertilityCare Centers of America for other centers.
We teach women to identify their signs of fertility through individual, in person follow ups. Our training teaches us to follow a standardized way of teaching the checking of biological markers and charting these markers. All FCP’s use the same method through a set amount of follow ups and standardized teaching materials (the follow up form and picture dictionary). In best practice, all follow ups and chart reviews are done live and in person. FCPs are also able to help clients understand if there are biological markers that could indicate a gynecological issue. We refer to NaPro Medical Consultants for further evaluation.
I became a FertilityCare Practitioner after only attending 4 follow ups. As I was learning this method, I was so inspired by the logical way this information was presented and how medical consultants use it to diagnose and treat different gynecological issues. At that time (2006!), my FCP was driving over 2 hours each way to teach the FertilityCare program. She then moved her family so she could teach full time. She also coordinated an Education Program in our area so others could learn to be an FCP. I was blessed to be able to take part in this program.
The first week of classes, we attended lectures by a seasoned FertilityCare Educator and NaPro Physician/Surgeon. These lectures were practical where we learned how to teach women to track and chart and were also philosophical. I was truly in awe at how authentically Catholic this program was and how it upheld the dignity of women and marriage.
After the first week of classes, I started to present the Intro to FertilityCare session and started to teach some clients. I taught 18 women in the first year. I was eventually hired by Holy Spirit OB GYN & Holy Spirt FertilityCare where I taught for 10 years. I completed the FertilityCare Education Program in 2007 and passed the exam. All FCPs have been prior FertilityCare clients and felt the calling to teach.
All FCPs have passed the final exam and are able to teach. When an FCP gets the additional certification from the American Academy of FertilityCare Professionals, a C is place before FCP (CFCP). This certification is needed to own a FertilityCare Center and be the responsible practitioner.
In 2016, I then completed the Nutritional Therapy Association Nutritional Therapy Practitioner Program and created by own business, Faith & Hope Wellness Associates and Faith & Hope FertilityCare Center. It is a great honor to teach the beauty of fertility to women and couples and help them on their family building journey.
